Without a 1 km tram line, the Republic of Moldova exports top components for Ukrainian trams
The Republic of Moldova, a country that currently has no trams in any of its cities, produces essential components for tram propulsion systems, and recently the first such tram was put on the streets of Odessa, under test, the authorities of the Ukrainian city planning the acquisition of another 10-12 such trams during 2022.
The components produced in Moldova form the entire system of electric tram propulsion management – all components of electronic engine management, energy recovery, engine voltage management, so the whole “brain” of propulsion management and the whole tram, in fact, according to the piataauto.md. This system is provided by the same team of engineers, who produce similar systems for trolleybuses, including battery-powered trolleybuses in Chisinau. The system has been delivered to over 120 cities around the world.
The tram itself is built at the Etalon factory in Ukraine. The construction of these trams can take place on the basis of reconditioning used trams or using absolutely new wagons.
The new tram is called Etalon TR3100, has 34 seats and a greater number of standing seats, there is air conditioning in the passenger compartment.
The control system of electric transmission and traction motors is Moldovan, developed by the Technical-Scientific Enterprise “Informbusiness” in Chisinau.
Information about the operation of the control system is processed by the on-board computer and displayed on the center console display in the driver’s cab. All electrical equipment of the tram is made on the basis of the CAN bus, which offers the following advantages: reduction of the number of wires, constant monitoring of the low voltage network and its components, breakdown places, interruptions, short circuits, and functionality of consumer connections. All this information is displayed on the on-board computer.
Etalon Corporation brings together 21 companies, including two car factories, as well as a car parts and forging factory.
Republic of Moldova, a strong electronics industry
“Informbusiness” is part of the Association of Electronic Companies in Moldova (ACEM). ACEM has 17 companies in the Electronics Industry, totalling over 1350 employees and a turnover of over $ 40 million.
Chisinau had 17 kilometres of tram lines at the end of World War II, but this network was disbanded in 1961.
